This posts are useful for any kind of BANK PO exams , so follow this rules :

Recently I applied for ICICI bank Probationary Officer's (2010) & I am shortlisted to appear for written test , I successfully cleared my written test and group discussion and also attended personal Interview .. So I would like to share my experiences regarding the above 3 selection procedures :

Before entering into the particulars of the exam I would like to unveil my personal details : I am a under graduate pursuing my final semester B-tech/BE in a esteemed college and having an aggregate of not less than 70 and applied for ICICI on 16th December 2009 and I received a message for written test around 25th january and asked to apply for a slot online in the renowned cities and I applied and attempted my written test successfully :

Total 5 sections , after completion of 1 section only, u will move to next one :
Each section has different number of questions and their corresponding time :
Total 44minutes online exam :
Different paper for everyone :
Each section has individual cut-off , so every section is important .
You have to perform every section equally else you will be . . .. . !

SECTION 1:

PASSAGES :

5 passages each passage contains 2 questions total 10 - Direct Questions , passages are 6-7 lines only , I am not sure about the time for this section but I hope it's 8minutes.
The bits from passages mostly are true / false . Just read the passage once and if you are talented enough you can answer questions in one-go :
I did very well and I am sure that atleast 9 out of 10 are correct : So you can also do it very easily , preparation is mostly not required .

SECTION 2 :

APTITUDE :

There are around 15 questions in this section and not so tough but the time is less so you have to be quick to solve this section , general knowledge is enough to solve this section but the only factor is time , the time is around 18mins and if you prepare RS AGGARWAL its more than enough , this section is also easy no worry .

I completed around 12qns in given time and remaining 3 just marked as a fluke.

SECTION 3 :

VERBAL SECTION :

This section contains English and little bit English sense is required to complete this section , it contains fill in the blanks type questions and you just need to identify the appropriate word and mark it as answer , all the 4 options given to each qn are very close to each other so be wary before opting the answer , it contains 10-15 questions and time is around 5-6 minutes .

Time is not a factor in this section , no need to worry :

SECTION 4 :

DIAGRAMS AND SHAPES , ODD FIGURE OUT :

As the name suggests this section contains 4 diagrams , 3 are given and based on those three you have to find out the next one , in the 4 options u will have the missing diagram , its very very easy among all the 4 sections , but time is very less , 10-12 questions for around 7minutes.

This doesn't require any preparation , time is a factor here , manage your time :

SECTION 5 :

VERBAL REASONING :

Here in this section a word will be given and you have to identify a word which is closer to it by its synonym mostly or antonym rarely and time is also less her , around 15 questions for 6minutes , but we can do it easily if u are little bit good in English .

This marks the end of written aptitude exam and after 10-15 days you will receive a mail if you cleared the written aptitude exam .

CHAOS FOR 8GB RAM ! ! !

ARE YOU PLANNING TO UPGRADE YOUR MEMORY TO 4-8GB Then ........

Do we really need >4GB of RAM ? ? ?

More RAM doesn't always mean better performance .. ..

With the price of upgrading system RAM extremely low these days, people are always asking me whether it's really worth it to upgrade beyond 4GB; today I' ll answer that question for everybody.

First, let me take a moment to clarify what exactly more RAM can (and can't) do for you. The biggest benefit of upgrading your PC's memory is better multi-tasking, especially for those of us using RAM-hogging applications like Photoshop, Outlook, or Firefox 5 minutes after we've opened it. Having a lot of memory means that you can quickly switch back and forth between the different applications without Windows writing the process memory out to the pagefile. (The pagefile performs much the same purpose as RAM, but the data is stored on your much slower hard drive.)

To put it another way, your RAM generally does not make your PC faster, it just allows it to do more things at once. If your single application uses 200 MB of RAM, it won't matter if you've got 2 or 8GB of total system memory, but if you've got 10 windows open using 200 MB each, then you are probably going to benefit from an upgrade.

What Applications Actually Use 4GB+ of RAM?

It's true, very few applications are going to use large chunks of your system memory, but there are some applications that will benefit greatly from an upgrade—image editing applications like Photoshop, video/audio editing applications, or virtual machines like VirtualBox or VMware will use as much RAM as you can spare. On my desktop with 8GB of RAM, I'm able to run all of the above at the same time, without showing any signs of slowdown when switching from one application to another.

More RAM Will Not Make Single Tasks Faster

Other than the specific applications that hog your RAM, if you think bumping your RAM from 3GB to 8GB is going to increase the speed of a regular application-like a video game—you should think again. The only thing that additional RAM does is allow your computer to do more things at once, not actually make it faster. So if you normally have a few dozen windows open before you launch your video game, you'll see some speed improvement by upgrading, or you could just close a few apps.

How Do You Know When to Upgrade?

If you are running with 2GB or less RAM in your system, you could probably benefit from an upgrade unless you barely use your PC or run a single application at a time—it should be easy to open up Task Manager and check whether your memory usage is reaching the limit. If you consider yourself a power user, you'll want to consider upgrading your PC to 3 or 4GB of RAM. So what if you already have 3GB+ installed? Should you drop the cash for 6 or even 8GB of RAM?

To really analyze whether your PC is using the memory properly or paging to the disk, the best tool is the Resource Monitor included in Windows 7 or Vista—it gives you a quick view at exactly what resources are being used, and what they are being used for. The key thing to pay attention to is the Hard Faults/sec graph, which tells you how many times an application attempted to read memory that Windows was forced to push into the pagefile because of a lack of memory.

What About 32-bit vs 64-bit?

So you've upgraded your PC with 8GB of system RAM, only to find out that Windows doesn't see all of it. The reason is simple: 32-bit versions of Windows Xp,7 or VISTA cannot use more than 4GB of RAM east not without an ugly and unsupported hack. If you want to actually use all of that RAM that you installed, you'll need to install a 64-bit version of Windows.

The Bottom Line

Let's break it down into a couple of bullet points for easier digestion:

If you are a regular user, just light browsing, IM, or YouTube, you are probably just fine with 2GB of RAM—but check Resource Monitor if you aren't sure.
If you consider yourself a power user but don't use Photoshop or virtual machines, you should probably have 3-4GB of RAM installed.
If you are a power user with virtual machines or you do heavy audio/video/image editing, you should consider upgrading with as much RAM as you can afford—just keep in mind that you'll need a 64-bit version of Windows to take advantage of it all.

Want some actual proof? The well-known PC building site Tom's Hardware ran a bunch of tests on machines with different RAM configurations, and ZDNet ran through a number of tests with the same conclusion—unsurprisingly, most people just don't need 8GB of RAM at this point.

In September 2009, nearly 27 billion hours were spent on the Internet globally by a record online population of 1.2 billion Internet users age 15 and older. Microsoft Sites accounted for 14.5 percent of total minutes spent online in September, making it the most engaging global property, with Microsoft’s Windows Live Messenger representing nearly 70 percent of time spent on the property during the month. Google Sites captured 9.3 percent of total minutes (2.5 billion hours), with YouTube accounting for nearly half of total time spent (1.2 billion hours) at the property. Yahoo! Sites ranked as the third most engaging Web property at 1.7 billion hours, followed by Facebook.com at 1.4 billion hours. Firefox 3.6 can detect Computer Orientation :

The upcoming version 3.6 of Firefox will be able to tell if you're listing to starboard--and pass that information along to applications running in the browser.

That's because the browser will be able to detect the orientation of laptops and mobile devices equipped with accelerometers that can tell which way is down. The reason for the work: Web applications running in the browser will be able to use the information, useful for labyrinth-type games with virtual marbles rolling around boards, and any number of other gaming situations.

Mozilla evangelist Christopher Blizzard announced Firefox's coming orientation interface Monday.

"One new feature that we're including as part of Firefox 3.6 is support for web pages to access machine orientation information if it's available," Blizzard wrote. "Many modern MacBooks and ThinkPads contain devices and drivers that expose this information. We've added support for Linux, Macs and some ThinkPads where drivers and devices are available."

Mozilla is working on the technology for mobile devices, too, where orientation-aware games are a big deal.

The move is one of many by browser makers eager to transform their software from passive receptacles for showing Web sites to an active foundation for interactive applications. Firefox 3.6 is scheduled for beta testing shortly and final release later this year.

Microsoft readies bumper update

Microsoft will issue its biggest ever security update on 13 October.

The update will include 13 bulletins that between them tackle 34 vulnerabilities.

Microsoft said that eight of the bulletins were rated as critical - the most serious sort of vulnerability.

The security patches will close loopholes in many different programs including different editions of Windows, Internet Explorer and some elements of Office.

One update, rated as critical, tackles a loophole in Internet Explorer 8 running under Windows 7. The next version of Microsoft's operating system is due to be released on 22 October.

Most people will get the updates automatically but links to download them can also be found on Microsoft's security pages. Once applied to a PC, the machine will need to be re-started before the fixes take effect.

In a blog posting giving an outline of the updates, Jerry Bryant, a Microsoft security expert, said two of the fixes were for problems flagged up in earlier advisories.

One of those loopholes, for the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) bundled in with Microsoft's Internet Information Server, is already being exploited by some hi-tech criminals.

Windows is by far the most popular target for cyber criminals and the vast majority of the millions of malicious programs, including worms and trojans, are aimed at the operating system.

Prior to the bumper October security update, Microsoft's biggest every update was released in June 2009. That package of 10 fixes tackled 31 vulnerabilities.

Microsoft typically issues its updates on the second Tuesday of every month. It started this regular monthly update system in late 2003

ICICI GD / Personal Interview Experience :

If you have cleared the Written Aptitude Test then , th e next stage of the Selection Process would include:

1. Profiling.

2. Group Discussion,

3. Interview

You are requested to report for the Group Discussion on mentioned Date-Time-Venue:

Note:

Before appearing for the GD/PI, you are requested to complete the online personality questionnaire.
Instructions, along with user name and password, to complete the personality profiling are mentioned.

Only those clearing the Group Discussion will qualify for the next Stage Interview.

You are required to complete an online Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ) before you appear for the GD-PI , the details are sent to via EMAIL :

Clear instructions are given at the outset of the exercise - Please read them completely. The questionnaire consists of a number of WebPages having 104 questions each having 4 statements - out of which you must choose one statement which is most like you and one that is least like you.
Unless you select one most likely and one least likely answer, system will not allow you to go to next page. Also system will not allow going back and changing the answers. Please put yourself in a work situation while answering the questions and not social settings.
Please answer as truthfully and consistently with your feelings. There are inbuilt checks in the questionnaire to detect faked results. Do not ponder too long on questions and try to guess what ICICI Bank will be looking for.
There are no right or wrong answers. I advise you to go with your first instincts and respond spontaneously.

You have to complete this OPQ before attending the exam , and coming to GD :

I had my GD on 13 feb 2010 but due to TELANGANA agitation the GD is postponed to 17 feb 2010 in HYDERABAD .
Before going to our GD we are asked to submit our certificates along with resume : then after sometime we entered into the GD room :
By 10:00 AM our batch had GD , I had 15 in my group . An HR person gave us some 4pages and asked us to go through it and speak about it after 15mins .
The topic issued to us is " Money , Money sweeter tha HONEY :"
After reading that article given to us , the overall concept given to us can be outlined as "How will u share the funds as a student president among different commitee's like sports , canteen , admission viz. "
While we are reading , the 3HR persons keenly observed at us eating snacks , after 15mins the GD started and GD head asked the 1st person in the row to start the discussion , where I am the 2nd one :
After few members expressed their view , I too expressed my view in a short and clear way which is accepted by others too :
We had 15mins to share our ideas , at last HR asked us to stop and gave chances to persons who didn't have a chance to speak .Out of 15 , 3were eliminated and I am lucky that I am not in the group of losers .
The people who are given chance to speak at last are also in the winning team , don't bother that i couldn/t speak in the given time :
Then we moved on to Personal interview :

The personal interview is only for few minutes and the basic questions like tell me about your profile , ARE U MOBILE ? The qns like this are asked and this is as easy as you express :

By tweaking the way Firefox handles some caching functions, you can dramatically improve page load speed and even prevent Firefox from hogging your system resources while minimized. If you don’t currently have any experience playing with your configuration file, don’t be scared. Just follow the simple instructions, take your time and if you want a security blanket to squeeze, jot down each setting before you change it so you can always restore the default configuration if need be. Reduce RAM usage to 10MB when Firefox is minimized:

1. Open Firefox and go to the Address Bar. Type in about:config and Enter.
2. Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean.
3. In the box that pops up enter “config.trim_on_minimize”. Press Enter.
4. Now select True and then press Enter.
5. Restart Firefox.

Pick-II

Reduce the amount of RAM, Firefox uses for its cache feature

1. Type “about:config” (no quotes) in the address bar in Mozilla browser.

2. Find “browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewer”

3. Set it’s value to “0“;(Zero)

Pick-III

Increase the Speed at Which Firefox loads pages

1. Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit Enter.
(Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.)

2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 10.

This means it will make 10 requests at once.

3. Lastly, right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0“;.(Zero)

This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages faster now.

Here are some more options for your about:config (you might have to create some of these entries by Right Click –> New– > Interger or String ..which may inc. the speed OPTIONAL

The Obama White House has an active Twitter feed, with more than 763,000 followers. However, not all administration staffers have access to the service. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told C-Span this morning that “Twitter is blocked on White House computers”:

Gibbs made the admission on C-SPAN on Friday morning, saying that he does not personally tweet, either: “I have to say, I’m on camera enough that I think people have a decent sense of what I’m doing minus Twittering.”

During an interview on CSPAN, Gibbs quickly answers a question about Twitter by explaining that the micro-blogging service is blocked on White House PCs and that he himself is not on the service because he is in front of the camera often enough that people "have a decent sense" of what he is doing. This quickly prompted accusations from blogs, like Read Write Web that Gibbs clearly didn't understand the utility of Twitter. Others bemoaned the OBAMA administration's IT security policies as a "JOKE"

Woman Fined $2 Million for Downloading 24 Songs

A federal jury found a 32-year-old Minnesota woman guilty of illegally downloading music from the Internet and fined her $80,000 each -- a total of $1.9 million -- for 24 songs.

Illegal downloads of musical files will cost a Minnesota woman $1.9 million, a jury has decided.

Jammie Thomas-Rasset's case was the first such copyright infringement case to go to trial in the United States, her attorney said.

Throughout the trials, Thomas-Rassett has always pledged her innocence, but juries have been incredulous. In fact, as part of her testimony in this trial, Thomas-Rassett suggested -- for the first time -- that her children or ex-husband might have been the downloading culprits. If the jurors didn't buy into the defendant's attempt at implicating her children, we couldn't imagine it helped to bolster her image in their eyes.

Attorney Joe Sibley said that his client was shocked at the fine, noting that the price tag on the songs she downloaded was 99 cents.

She plans to appeal, he said.

Cara Duckworth, a spokeswoman for the recording industry asscociation of America , said the association was "pleased that the jury agreed with the evidence and found the defendant liable."

"We appreciate the jury's service and that they take this as seriously as we do," she said.

Thomas-Rasset downloaded work by artists such as No Doubt, Linkin Park, Gloria Estefan and Sheryl Crow.

This was the second trial for Thomas-Rasset. The judge ordered a retrial in 2007 after there was an error in the wording of jury instructions.

The fines jumped considerably from the first trial, which granted just $220,000 to the recording companies.

Thomas-Rasset is married with four children and works for an Indian tribe in minnesota.

Did your Internet connection seem slow Thursday afternoon? It wasn’t problem of ur computer, it was the surge of interest in Michael Jackson’s hospitalization ,treatment and death.

When news of the iconic performer's death began trickling out, scores of people turned to the Web for information. when a channel broke the news that Jackson, 50, known for producing some of the world's best selling records, including "Thriller" and "Bad," had died Thursday afternoon, but the gossip hub cited only unnamed sources and offered few details. As other news services turned their attention to the story and as the public took to the Web to learn more about the performer's condition, some Web sites began slowing down.
As news of Michael Jackson’s death began to spread last Thursday, the crush of people flocking to the Web for information overloaded several Web sites and services, causing AOL’s instant messaging service, news sites, Twitter and Wikipedia to buckle under the strain.

But just how much traffic are we talking about? Compete, a Web analytics firm based in Boston, crunched some numbers and came up with a few data points to help illustrate the surge.It found that there were 9.98 million queries for the terms “Michael” and “Jackson” across the top 25 search engines and news and social media sites in the week ended June 27. Compete said that was more than 24 times the number of queries for information using the terms “Iran” and “election” during the week before. Google, which said that its systems initially interpreted the spike in searches as an attack, fielded the most requests, handling 61 percent of the queries. Yahoo Music pulled in a hefty 45 percent of Web surfers seeking the pop maestro’s albums, music videos and merchandise, according to Compete. YouTube ranked a distant second with 23 percent. Compete said Yahoo’s dominance was probably a result of spillover from its coverage of Mr. Jackson’s hospitalization. Yahoo said its coverage broke traffic records, generating 800,000 clicks in the first 10 minutes that the story was posted. The increase in interest in Mr. Jackson’s legacy has been reflected in record-shattering sales of music, both online and at retail stores.

Akamai said that traffic to news Web sites spiked around 6 p.m. Eastern, clocking in at one point at 4.2 million visitors per minute. During the rest of the day, the sites tracked by Akamai never exceeded 3 million visitors per minute. Some entertainment news Web sites including EOnline.com and PerezHilton.com appeared to load more slowly than normal. Sometimes they did not load at all, according to the observations of several reporters early Thursday evening. Even Google had trouble keeping up. Between 5:40 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Eastern, after TMZ.com had said Mr. Jackson had died, some visitors to Google News “experienced difficulty accessing search results for queries related to Michael Jackson,” a Google spokesman said.

But what does a 25,000-hour life mean? As it turns out, no one is quite sure yet. The definitions surrounding LED lamps, a nascent technology, are still being made up as we go along.

One thing we do know: It means something different than when people think about the life of a regular light bulb.

When it’s said that a standard light bulb will last 1,000 hours, that is the mean time to failure: half the bulbs will fail by that point. And because lamp manufacturing has become so routine, most of the rest will fail within 100 hours or so of that point.

But LED lamps don’t “burn out.” Rather, like old generals, they just fade away.

When a manufacturer says that an LED lamp will last 25,000 or 50,000 hours, what the company actually means is that at that point, the light emanating from that product will be at 70 percent the level it was when new.

Why 70 percent? Turns out, it’s fairly arbitrary. Lighting industry engineers believe that at that point, most people can sense that the brightness isn’t what it was when the product was new. So they decided to make that the standard.

Of course, brightness is subject to the old frog in the boiling water syndrome. I’m sure that most people won’t even notice the lower level then, if they’ve lived with the same bulb for its entire life. (How many owners of rear projection DLP TVs only realize that a TV’s image has dimmed once they replace the bulb?)

If nothing else in the lamp fails, like its electronics, the product will continue to work until it becomes really dim. But some engineers are proposing a way to get around even that.

Their idea is that once the LEDs start to emit less light, increase the power to each one to increase its brightness. Unfortunately, that will also diminish the life of the lamp.

Good idea, or bad? “The utilities really don’t like this idea,” Fred Welsh, a Department of Energy consultant, told me on Thursday at a lighting conference sponsored by his federal agency.

Not only would contractors need to use thicker cables, but the utilities would need to create more power, partially negating the appeal of LED lighting in the first place.

But still, it’s in its early days, and no one yet knows how this will be settled, or how the consumer will be educated to think about “bulb life” in a different way than they have for the past 130 years. If consumers are going to switch to this new lighting technology, it’s an issue that needs to be settled.

And if it isn’t? “This is a potential black eye for the industry,” Mr. Welsh said.

We spend entire day inside a browser window. email. Web-based chat. Web-based blog editor.. Instead of watching my PC’s desktop sputter, I spend a lot of time impatiently waiting for my Firefox browser to load pages.

I’m ready to drive over to Google and strong-arm their marketing people to change the weak selling points listed on Chrome’s download page. “Search from the address bar. Thumbnails of your top sites.” Would that make you switch browsers? No, but “insanely fast browsing” would.

There are browser performance test results all over the Internet, but Chrome’s speed boost over Internet Explorer and Firefox is so obvious to a nontechnical surfer that I’m not going to let a bunch of charts talk me out of it. When I was a Web site producer in the ’90s, we learned that the faster our sites loaded, the more business we got. It was that simple. Faster-loading pages brought our users back more often, and encouraged them to click an extra page while visiting the site.

Chrome has the effect of speeding up the entire Internet — not just Google’s sites, but every page I hit. Chrome lets me do a little extra Web research for a story, trade a couple of extra e-mail messages with sources, and spend less time writing and publishing my posts. Another benefit: With Chrome, Facebook and Twitter eat a little less of each day.

If you spend anywhere near as much time online as I do, download Chrome and give it a test drive. It’s free, and easily uninstalled if you don’t like it. I’m sure the engineers who make Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari are hard at work to speed up their own browsers, but that’ll take months. Chrome will have you speed-surfing in the next five minutes.

Research at the Monell Chemical Senses Center finds that women have keener senses of smell than do men, and that men's body odors are harder to cover up than are women's.

Body odor reveals more than when we last showered - it also packs important biological information. And apparently women are better at catching the scent of body odor than men, a new study found.A woman friend of mine recently commented about her guy: “He’s such a boy. His towels are stinky. And he doesn’t seem to notice!” Well, maybe he can’t smell the stinkyness. According to recent research from the Monell Chemical Senses Center, women have much sharper noses.

Scientists collected microdroplets of perspiration, and had men and women sniff the vials. According to both, the odors were equally rich. Subjects were then asked to rate odor strength when sniffing the sweat mixed one by one with 32 different fragrances. Only two of the fragrances stopped women from smelling the sweat. But 19 fragrances successfully blocked it from male noses.

Body odor is special—the authors note that in previous studies men’s and women’s scent detection did not differ when it came to other aromas. The researchers also concluded that men’s odor is harder to mask than women’s, regardless of who sniffs. Only a fifth of the fragrances could cover up male odor. But half of the scents masked female odor. The researchers suggest that for women there may be important biological information contained in male sweat. So maybe don’t wash those towels just yet.

At present everybody is having an internet connection and everybody wants some kinds of tricks to improve internet speeds: So i am also interested in the same thing and I found some which are worth improving , they are as Follows::
Step 1.
First thing you'll want to do is go to start and click on run.
Type in gpedit.msc
OK
Step 2.
Your Group Policy list will show or something similiar. Go down the list and click on
administrative templates.
Click and open QoS Packet Scheduler in NETWORKS
Step 3.

Double click on that then , look at the list and find limited reservable bandwidth or something to that name, click and open.
Click on settings.

You will see:
Not configured - which is Defaultly checked :
Enabled
Disabled

Now, change not configured to enabled.

Now, where you see bandwidth limit, change to 0. Most are set at 20 but you will want to change to 0.

Click apply, OK, close and your done.

Oracle Snatches Sun, SCOTCHING IBM ....

Oracle and Sun have announced that they have entered into an agreement such that Oracle now owns Sun in a deal that’s worth approximately $7.4 billion, or $5.6 billion net of Sun’s cash and debt.

Oracle has emerged as one of the most powerful players on the tech landscape, buying rivals to assemble a long list of programs used by companies.

The deal gives Oracle control over important Sun software -- notably the popular programming technology called Java, which is used to build software for Web sites and cellphones. Oracle Chief Executive Larry Ellison described Java as "the single most important software asset we have ever acquired."

Some analysts said they were stunned by Mr. Ellison's move, predicting that Oracle may eventually choose to divest Sun's hardware business. But Safra Catz, one of two Oracle presidents, said Oracle intends to make Sun's hardware operations a profitable business unit.

"The acquisition of Sun transforms the IT industry, combining best-in-class enterprise software and mission-critical computing systems," said Oracle CEO Larry Ellison. "Oracle will be the only company that can engineer an integrated system - applications to disk - where all the pieces fit and work together so customers do not have to do it themselves. Our customers benefit as their systems integration costs go down while system performance, reliability and security go up."

It's hard to predict the full extent of how Oracle's acquisition of Sun will impact the open source software industry. There are a lot of unanswered questions and there are many other projects at both Sun and Oracle—such as OpenOffice.org and Btrfs—that could be left in limbo. The transition will be difficult and there will surely be some cultural conflicts and friction. It's also pretty easy to anticipate a lot of cuts of both staff and projects as Oracle assimilates Sun.

That topped last weekend's $59.3 million debut for DreamWorks Animation's "Monsters vs. Aliens", which slipped to second place with $33.5 million, raising its 10-day total to $105.7 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.Universal's "Fast & Furious" also raced to a record for April debuts, easily passing the previous best of $42.2 million set in 2003 by "Anger Management."

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

8 X 10 Tasveer is a suspense and thriller movie directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. Nagesh has entered in to a zone with his new flick Tasveer. It's really surprising to watch Nagesh Kukunoor taking up a new avatar of treating an unparalleled script - 'Murder-Mystery'. He takes off with a perfect narration all throughout the show and naturally holds onto a perfect climax. Jai Puri (Akshay Kumar) is a forest ranger in Canada. For over a year he is having a live in relationship with Sheela (Ayesha Takia) and staying separately from his parents Jatin (Benjamin Gilani) and Savitri (Sharmila Tagore) because he doesn't approve of his father's business dealings. Jai is blessed with supernatural powers with which he can look at any photograph and can actually go right into that moment when it was actually clicked, thus helping many who come to him for help when the police have failed. He now has the unenviable task of venturing into a photograph, clicked just moments before his father could die, to find out whether it was murder or natural death. His journey to unravel the mystery keeps you on the edge of your seat. Performance wise, Akshay Kumar deserves a bow for taking the risk to be a part of such an unusual project. He has done a serious role in this film. Javed Jaffery impresses with his acting as a cop. Ayesha Takia is Ok. She looks beautiful. Grirish Karnad has a small role. Anant Mahadevan and Rushad Rana are good as well. Sharmila Tagore is off course a mature actress, she has really done a good job. On the whole, 8 X 10 Tasveer, is fairly a nice film. Kukunoor shows tremendous progress as a technician and has done just the perfect casting for all the parts. His interval point is simply superb as it wipes out all the predictions you are making up till then. Good chance for hardcore Akshay's fans to watch him in a serious role.

Ek The Power Of One directed by Sangeeth Sivan is a remake of successful Telugu film Athadu. The film revolves around the story of a criminal who is reformed after having love and affection from a simple and loving family. The film has a perfect mix of action, here-and-there humors, lots of sentiments, a long-time love story and an inexcusable traitor.

Nandu (Bobby) and Shekhar (Pradeep Kharab) are childhood pals who have taken to crime and contract killing at a very young age. They get mentored by a goon Sawtya (Jackie Shroff) during their growing up years. Now as grown ups, Nandu becomes the most dreaded assassin in town and Shekhar his accomplice who always helps him in getting away from the scene of crime within minutes.

Opposition leader Anna Mhatre [Sachin Khedekar] hires Nandu to assassinate him, while he is addressing a rally for his election campaign. But just before Nandu is able to lock his target, another shot is fired, leading to the cold blooded murder of Anna Mhatre. Nandu is shocked; he manages to make an escape by leaping onto a running train.

On the train Nandu meets Puran [Akshay Kapoor], a simple boy from Punjab who is returning back to his homeland after a long gap. Puran, in his excitement of returning to his family after so long, narrates his side of the story to Nandu.

Just then Police arrives and in the commotion that ensues mistakenly shoot Puran. Nandu yet again succeeds in fleeing the scene. He heads straight to Puran's house but is mistaken as Puran by his family. Unable to reveal the sad truth, Nandu starts staying in their house impersonating Puran. There he encounters Puran's childhood love Preet (Shriya). He takes it upon himself to solve all the problems that Puran's family is facing. But his happiness is short-lived as a quirky but intelligent CBI officer Nandkumar Rane (Nana) hot on trail to nab Anna Mhatre's assassin lands up in Hoshiyaarpur at Puran's doorsteps. Will Nandu be able to come out of the crisis?

Performance wise, Bobby Deol has nade an excellent comeback with this film. Nana Patekar is just incredible as a cop. Both Bobby and Nana have brilliant timing. Shriya has a convincing approach. Pradeep has done well as Bobby's friend. Jackie Shroff is fine with his character.

On the whole, The film is aimed at the masses but could have been a better one had some loose end taken care of and the narrative kept tight. But it is not a bad film and may work well for you if you literally have nothing else to do and go in without any expectations. At box office the film will doa fair business. Good to watch for hardcore Bobby and Nana's Fans.

Eros Pictures Pvt. Ltd's fast-paced romantic musical thriller AA DEKHEN ZARA is scheduled for 27th March release. Directed by debutante director Jehangir Surti the film stars JOHNNY GADDAR fame Neil Nitin Mukesh and the sultry siren Bipasha Basu. Other cast includes Rahul Dev and Sophie Choudhary.

The title song 'Aa Dekhe Zara' of the film is a modern day remix version of the popular dance number of 80's from the Sanjay Dutt and Tina Munim starrer film ROCKY.

Summary:

Aa Dekhen Zara is a film directed by Jehangir Surti. This is a sci-fi thriller film. This film goes far-fetched with powerful characterizations and substantial screenplay, though it stumbles at few points. Jehangir had a nice concept for this film that starts well but fades away after the first hour.

Ray Acharya (Neil) is a down on luck wildlife photographer. As things start going from bad to worse, he inherits his grandfatherâ€™s (Biswajeet) special camera which changes things overnight for him. The camera has the special ability to reveal the future through the photographs taken from it. Ray starts using it for his own materialistic benefits and starts enjoying life.

He manages to get a girlfriend, Simi (Bipasha) who works as a DJ in a night club. But then his special gift becomes a threat for Indiaâ€™s enemies and the issue of national security looms large. As they say with great power comes great responsibility and in Ray's case, also great danger. He must now face up to the dark side of reality and win not only against the evil forces, but also against fate.

Ray has to keep the camera safe from the evil forces headed by one Captain (Rahul Dev). How Ray handles it all and what shocking revelation he has to face during the climax forms the rest of the film.

One thing is worth mentioning that despite of several flaws and loopholes in the script the film manages to keep you on the edge of your seat, not because of the characters or story but because you get hooked to know about the futuristic events shown by this magical camera.

Acting wise, Neil Nithin Mukesh is best as Ray. Bipasha Basu's performance is superb. She looks gorgeous on screen. Rahul Dev is top notch. He has delivered a mind blowing performance.

On the whole, Aa Dekhen Zara is a film with good concept which had all the chances to do well but the weak script and screenplay make it an average film. Otherwise the chemistry between Bipasha and Neil is superb. They have excellent timings. But the film lacks the stamina to run steadily.

VIDESH ::

Videsh - Heaven on Earth is a beautiful film directed by a renowned director Deepa Mehta. The film has a beautiful concept and a very nice story. The film is a mixture of spousal abuse, submissive daughter-in-law, violent husband, cruel in-laws, packaged with mythological elements.

From a small town in Punjab, the happy-go-lucky girl Chand (Preity), strangely enough, is sent all alone to Canada, to marry Rocky (Vansh) whom she has never met. There her husband Rocky and his very traditional family await her arrival. Everything is new to Chand everything is unfamiliar including the quiet and shy Rocky who she meets for the first time at the Arrivals level of Pearson Airport. The jobless mamma's boy & Chand's husband Rocky (Vansh Bharadwaj) is highly frustrated person who has no sexual interest in his wife

or rather no human feelings at all, except anger, which erupts in physical violence.

Chand approaches her new life and her new land with equanimity and grace, and at times the wide-eyed optimism of hope-her first snowfall is a tiny miracle of beauty, and the roar of Niagara Falls creates the excitement of new beginnings. Chand soon realizes life as a non-resident Indian is not all it's made out to be.

Disheartened Chand who brings along her mom's narrated poems and folktales seeks solace in reciting her mom's narrated myths of the holy snake 'Sheshnaag' (who is considered to take form of any individual). Rocky and his mom's insulting behaviour increases with Rocky often brutally beating Chand up. But then one night, her ''snake god'' from her backyard comes to life and enters her bedroom in the form of her husband Rocky.

Trapped in a world she cannot comprehend and unable to please her husband, Chand is desperate. Hope comes in the form of Rosa (Yanna McIntosh), a tough and savvy Jamaican woman who works alongside Chand in a factory where immigrant women from all over the world clean and press dirty hotel laundry. Rosa sees past the make-up that covers Chand's bruised face. Realizing Chand has nowhere to turn, Rosa gives her a magical root advising her "to put it in whatever the bastard drinks." The root is supposed to seduce the one who takes it, making them fall hopelessly in love with the person who gives it to them. Chand's attempts with the magic root lead to surreal incidents and her life gradually begins to mirror an Indian fable involving a King Cobra. As the lines between fantasy and reality converge, Chand and Rocky come face to face with each other and themselves.

The basic plot is interesting but Deepa Mehta has made a complete mess of it. The snail-paced movie has mystifying black and white portions. Too many close shots also don't work in film's favour, at times it irks you.

Performance wise, Priety Zinta steals the show. She has done a fabulous job in this film. Her expression and emoptions are top notch. She has played her character magnificiently. Hats off to Priety for this film. Rest of the cast is fine.

SIKANDER Movie Preview

SIKANDAR is a co-production between BIG Pictures with filmmaker Sudhir Mishra's production house - CineRaas Ltd. The film is ready to thrill the audiences worldwide in theaters on 27th March 2009. Piyush Jha, who has earlier directed comedies like KING OF BOLLYWOOD and CHALO AMERICA, has written and directed this suspense thriller which has an undercurrent of terrorism to it. According to the director the Film deals with violence, but the central theme of the film is that of peace. The film does not have a jingoistic or partisan point of view, and does nottake sides, except the side of humanity. The film is unapologetically culturally specific, reflecting the sense of social anxiety and alienation of the people of Kashmir. But, it is only as successful as it is rooted in showing complex characters, and telling a complete story that transcends geography.

Synopsis:

Sikandar Raza is a 14 year old schoolboy in Kashmir. Ever since his parents were killed by militants 10 years back, he has lived with his aunt and uncle, in a small town in Kashmir. All Sikandar's desires revolve around the happiness of his foster parents, and getting the ball into the goal on the football field. One day, on his way home from a school football match, Sikandar finds a gun lying on the path. Despite admonishments by his newly made school friend, the 14 year old Nasreen, Sikandar picks up the gun, and thus begins a journey into the darker side of his nature. The quiet yet strong Nasreen becomes Sikandar's conscience keeper. She tries to dissuade him from giving in to the lure of the gun. However, all is not what it seems. Sikandar gets embroiled further and further in situations beyond his control, and people get killed. At first it seems that the happenings occurring alongside Sikandar's predicament are not connected. But, as layer upon layer unravels, it becomes clear that Sikandar is the innocent victim in a game being played out between the militants, the army, the peace bartering politicians and the religious heads of the little Kashmiri town. The pieces of the puzzle come together at the very end, leading to a shocking revelation.

However, his job is made difficult because he has to steer through the under-currents, of the political and religious kind .

Mukhtaar Mattoo (Sanjay Suri)- Mukhtaar Mattoo is a reformed militantleader aged 38. He now heads a political party called the Kashmir Peace Party (KPP). His benevolent manner is a soothing balm to many a volatile situation. He constantly attempts to broker peace between the various power centers; namely the militants, the army and the religious leaders. But, sometimes his actions are of a nebulous nature. (Arunoday Singh) - Zahgeer Quadir is a militant leader aged 27. He is a feared and respected Area Commander of the Kashmir Azaadi (Freedom) Force. Zahgeer is battle hardened, yet the sadness of a lost childhood weighs heavily on him. His position is being undermined by the peace efforts of the Kashmir Peace Front. Added to that, his supporters are dwindling in numbers.

Synopsis :

GULAAL movie Preview

A Zee Limelight production GULAAL is directed by maverick director Anurag Kashyap (Director of BLACK FRIDAY, NO SMOKING and DEV D). GULAAL which is closest to Anurag Kashyap's heart took shape long back in 2001. It is inspired by a song from PYAASA, 'Yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hai'. The film is a dedication to all the poets who had a vision of India. GULAAL is set in Rajpur a fictional city of Rajasthan, where a member of the erstwhile royal family stakes claim to the land of Rajasthan and wants to go back to the days of royalty. He wants Rajputana back from the Government of India and challenges the very idea of democracy. His history backs him, his people too, but the power corrupts him... Similar to a Shakespearean fable of desire, lost identities, love, greed, violence, murder, deceit, power and innocence, it is a film inspired by poetry; the forgotten male, macho world of power, corruption and greed, where women are just means to an end while nobody can be trusted. After enticing the nation with its path breaking music, catching everyone's eye with innovative marketing and delivering well on the critics expectations, DEV D is now captivating the heart of its audiences and ringing in moolah at the Box Office. The first week numbers are in and the film has garnered an overwhelming record at the box office for the period starting 6th February till 12th February, the film has grossed a whopping of Rs. 13 crores at the box office and is still running strong.A good small budget movie rakes in an average of Rs. 6 crores and this is for the third time in a row that a film from the spot boy palette that has done so exceptionally well. "However, more than anything else I had complete faith on anu's work and the concept of the film.

SUMMARY::

Dev [Abhay Deol] is sent away to London for studies but he never loses touch with his childhood friend Paro [Mahi Gill]. Dev and Paro are devilishly in love with each other. They do chat and share photographs. Back from the London after years, Paro, who is now even more in love with Dev than she ever was, cannot take her eyes off him.
